Broke camp at 0640. Low cloud along the eastern ridge,
clearing before nine. Followed the creek north to the
shale exposure marked yesterday.
Bed dips roughly 18° west. Dark stone beneath the shale
is harder than expected. Sample 14-C
taken approximately thirty yards east of the creek.

the lower crossing difficult. Stone marker still standing
above the bend, approximately six feet beyond the survey
line.
